Dr. Joseph Bivens
Dr. Bivens, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in all aspects of cosmetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and wound care. He is the founder and Medical Director of Optimal Plastic Surgery in Yorba Linda California. Dr. Bivens has earned a reputation that sets him apart as a leader in the field of plastic surgery. He has received recognition from his peers and won several awards for his extensive research in developing new techniques for liposuction, laser lipolysis, breast implant surgery, and breast reconstruction. He has contributed to numerous published articles and medical presentations. Dr. Bivens is also affiliated with several hospitals in Southern California.
Dr. Bivens path to becoming a plastic surgeon started in Florida, where he grew up and attended the University of Florida for both his undergraduate and medical school. During his time in Florida he dedicated his research to microvascular surgery and silicone gel implants. This research accelerated his passion for Plastic, Cosmetic, and Reconstructive Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida and went on to complete his general surgery internship and residency at New York Medical College Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, New York. Dr. Bivens was then invited to attend his fellowship at University of California San Diego where he specialized in Cosmetic Surgery, Breast Surgery and Body Contouring.
With his array of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Bivens believes that “It’s a pleasure to be in the field of medicine that can change lives and make dreams come true.
